"EMILCIN"
feature documentary
A Polish farmer says aliens took him aboard their ship. He didn't find it particularly remarkable. Forty-five years later, everyone else still does.

In 1978, Jan Wolski, an elderly farmer from Emilcin, claimed he had been taken aboard a spacecraft. He showed no fear, no astonishment - he recounted the experience calmly, matter-of-factly, as if describing an ordinary working day. The film grows out of this paradox: how do you tell a story whose protagonist himself gave it no emotional weight?
Emilcin is an oneiric investigation unfolding non-chronologically - every thread begun dissolves into digression, every digression opens another layer.
The story moves through three acts: thesis, antithesis, and synthesis. The thesis is grounded and earthly: a farmer, a cart, a horse - and two strangers who appear on a country road. The world of Emilcin in 1978 is introduced through its textures: communist-era rural Poland, a village on the edge of change, a man who sees something inexplicable and simply goes home for supper.
The antithesis multiplies and destabilizes. UFO enthusiasts who have built their worldview around Wolski's testimony are confronted with Bartosz Rdłutowski, a skeptic who methodically dismantles the story. An archival news report from 1978 collides with a Netflix pop-culture series on the same events, and the village -invaded by curious outsiders - finds itself turned into a mythology it never asked for.The synthesis doesn't resolve - it converges. Believers and skeptics share a picnic on the same field where it allegedly happened.

The VHS camera, used throughout as a time machine and a second eye, captures something the rational lens cannot name. The question of whether something actually happened in Emilcin matters less than what this story has done to the people who chose to believe it - or not.
The project is in an advanced stage of development and production, with two-thirds of the material already filmed. Built over years of research and close work with protagonists, the film has a defined structure while remaining open to discovery. The team continues filming, including during annual UFO gatherings in Emilcin, with the upcoming May 2026 event marking the next stage of production.
